Abstract

The Harau Valley tourism area is one of the three leading tourist attractions in Lima Puluh Kota Regency. The number of visitors has increased every year, but it is not accompanied by a good solid waste management plan from the local government. As a result, the solid waste management of the Harau Valley tourist area is still not good, it can be seen from the provision of inadequate facilities and infrastructure to accommodate the quantity of solid waste generated from this tourist area. This study aims to develop a solid waste management system for tourism area. The solid waste management system for the Harau Valley tourism area is planned for 12 years which is divided into two stages, the short term (2019-2025) and the long term (2026-2030). Development for operational technical aspects for the short term in the form of a communal container system with a capacity of 120 liters as 26 units, the collection system using an indirect communal pattern using 1 unit motorized tricycle as a collection tool which has a capacity of 1.5 m3, the processing is carried out at TPS3R including composting activities using the takakura method and recycling waste. Transportation is carried out by officers from the Environmental Affair Agency using arm roll trucks to transport residual waste from processing at TPS3R to Payakumbuh regional landfill.
